What Is Hamlet

Hamlet is a cool play, and a cool guy. We did an episode about the play. Don't worry, this is just an overview, we're going to dig in much deeper with later episodes.

Here's a sample from the "Bad Quarto", "Good Quarto", and the First Folio

  2. I'm just saying that Tennant in the movie looks like Richard Hammond, especially the hair. You guys know it's true!

  3. Screw the survey - I have no idea who Richard Hammond is. (I guess I'll have to Google him) I really like seeing the Bad Quarto/Good Quarto/First Folio editions side by side, (never had the opportunity to do a side-by-side comparison before) and hearing about the various historical antecedents for "Hamlet". Educational and entertaining as always, guys!

  6. I messed up the poll length, sorry about that. It looks like no one wants to help us pick our next episode, so we'll have to do that on our own. You guys are even lazier than we are! :P

  7. I'll put Taming on the list, but we just went to a performance of Much Ado About Nothing, so that's going to be the next episode.

  10. Here's an episode of the Skeptoid podcast on the authorship question.

You already know everything he brings up, but a lot of people listen to it and some of them are bound to doubt that Shakespeare wrote Shakespeare. So it's awesome.

  13. Don't know if you fellas had heard of it but I remembered it when you were talking about Hamlet fiction from the perspective of other characters; there's a book called Gertrude and Claudius by John Updike. I remember reading it years ago and finding it really interesting.

Keep up the good work guys.

  14. Hey, guys! I remember hearing this episode a while back about the perspectives (Ophelia, G&C etc.) and thought you might wanna have a look at this pretty crass, modern interpretation. Even in the free preview, it's a side by side comparison of text and an alternate reality where Hamlet is in an emo band with Horatio and Marcellus. Not sure how I feel about it haha, but that's your call! It's here:
